act i in the cinematic trilogy
blockbuster radio is the debut studio album from letterboxdmunch – a neon-soaked, late-night transmission broadcast somewhere between a video rental store, a letterboxd review spiral, and the fourth row of a movie theater.
built entirely from personal film reviews, cinematic fixations, and overwhelming attraction to movie stars, the album transforms moments of media consumption into chaotic pop mythology. across the record, arthouse dramas become horny club bangers, prestige cinema collapses into thirst-posting, and emotional vulnerability hides beneath layers of irony, synths, and flashing marquee lights.
at its core, blockbuster radio is about obsession: with movies, with celebrity, with projection, with wanting to be consumed by art and the people inside of it. the album treats cinema less like storytelling and more like a shared psychosis – one where a glance from a movie star can derail critical thought entirely.
pulling inspiration from vhs culture, queer nightlife, cult cinema, tabloid celebrity worship, and the performative intimacy of online film criticism, the project intentionally blurs the line between satire and sincerity. some tracks are laugh-out-loud ridiculous. some are unexpectedly devastating. most pretend to be both.
like any good rental store, blockbuster radio has a little bit of everything: horror, romance, thrillers, drama, poor decision making, and a shocking amount of internal barking.
please be kind. rewind for the view.
